Maritzburg United head coach Ernst Middendorp has made some unexpected revelations about one of Orlando Pirates’ key strikers.
The Team of Choice finds themselves floating in the danger zone, sitting 14th on the log fighting for survival.
One of the reasons for their poor form could be their lack of key signings in the previous transfer windows.
Ahead of a hectic schedule as they push for safety, Middendorp revealed that at the beginning of the current season, the club had their eyes set on many players, one of them being Pirates’ Kwame Peprah, but the player ended up in Soweto.
"We had players that we had discussions with towards the end of last season, we wanted to keep some players but they already made up their minds,” Middendorp told the media on Monday via a zoom conference.
"For example, we had discussions with Peprah in Ghana, as I have good relationships with teams that side, we had so many back to back discussions with his representative but unfortunately we couldn't go forward.”
"Understandably so, it happens and even now we have started preparations for next season, discussing with certain players and we will see.”
