Hot Property – Desired Defender Off The Market?

He’s been putting in some irresistible performances this season, possibly most notably against Kaizer Chiefs, and Maritzburg United aren’t taking any chances with their star defender.

Rushine de Reuck is quickly establishing himself as one of the top central defenders in the Absa Premiership this season, putting in a string of fine showings over the course of the 2019/20 campaign, and playing a major role in helping the Team of Choice reach their first-ever Telkom Knockout final.

The 23-year-old was in fine form against the Glamour Boys last month in their 2-1 victory that set up a TKO final against Mamelodi Sundowns, and put in a Man of the Match showing over the weekend in the 0-0 draw against AmaZulu that sent them back into the top 10.

Interest is thought to be growing in the centre back as he continues to thrive in South Africa, but Maritzburg have made provisions to make sure that they hold all the cards regarding his future after he penned an improved five-year deal in Pietermaritzburg.

Speaking in the latest issue of Soccer Laduma, Siyavuma Sports Group, the player’s representatives, confirmed the news to the crew, saying, “Yes, he’s just committed himself to Maritzburg on a long-term basis, signing a five-year deal with the club. He’s very happy there, and is happy with his progress since he made his debut.”

The new deal for the defender means that any interested party will have to break the bank if they’re to land his signature, and – after losing players like Fortune Makaringe earlier in the year – Eric Tinkler will be eager to keep his best players at the club for as long as possible.
