Fadlu Davids has added several players to his ranks ahead of the 2018/19 season, and he’s spoken about finding a way for the likes of Keagan Buchanan and Nazeer Allie to gel at Maritzburg United.
Buchanan and Allie have been joined by Denwin Farmer, Sizwe Muthwa and Tholang Masegela on the list of new signings for the Team of Choice as Davids looks to try and better last season’s impressive performance,
Maritzburg had a record-breaking season for the club last time out as they secured their highest league finish and highest ever points tally, and now – after getting pre-season underway a few weeks ago – they’re heading to the North West for the final part of their preparations.
Their head coach told the club’s official website, “We go to Potchefstroom for the final phase of our pre-season. We go into the end of week four, starting week five, and we’ll be playing a couple of friendly matches over there.
“It’s more about getting the players together, getting them to know what our club is about, what our playing style is about, building the team spirit. That was our strength last season and we plan to build on that.”
He went on to say, “It’s about finding the best way forward for the season in terms of our playing style, that’s what pre-season is about. We will have a couple of more friendlies before we start our first league match against Golden Arrows.
“Up until then it’s about finding the right formula, the best team to be on the pitch, not necessarily the best players, but the best team that will give you the best results.”
