Maritzburg Snap Up Australian Youngster
Maritzburg United have snapped up Australian midfielder, Liam Youlley, as they continued to bolster their squad for the new season.
The 20-year-old central midfielder started training with the club today after making the move from Australia and he says that he’s here to show the Team of Choice’s fans what he’s capable of.
He told the club’s official website, "Both my parents were born and grew up in South Africa. My mother was born in Woodlands, Pietermaritzburg, and my dad in Johannesburg.
"I don't know much about the club and the South African League. It's all new to me, there's a lot to learn."
He added, "It's a good team, they're a nice bunch of players and they welcomed me well. I enjoyed my first training session and they made it easy for me.
"I'm here to show what I can do and I hope they will enjoy what I can do on the field.”
The Australian youth international represented played for the young Socceroos at last year's U19 AFC Championships.
