Confirmed: Latest PSL Switch Announced!
It’s another week, and another new Absa Premiership signing has been confirmed in the build-up to the upcoming 2019/20 season.
Maritzburg United are eager to avoid another relegation scrap after surviving by the skin of their teeth in the last campaign, and now they’ve added 24-year-old Yusuf Jappie to their list of new signings as Eric Tinkler looks to do just that.
The club has previously announced the signings of Kwanda Mngonyama, Judas Moseamedi and Phumalani Ntshangase, and Jappie becomes the fourth new face at the club in an attempt to make sure they avoid a similar fate.
A statement on the club’s official website read, “Maritzburg United's attacking options have been boosted with the acquisition of an exciting wide attacking midfielder in Yusuf Jappie.
“Jappie last played for Free State Stars in the Absa Premiership, providing the Bethlehem-based side with a creative, skilful and speedy outlet on the flanks.
“The 24-year-old also featured for Golden Arrows in the top flight, and for Milano United in the National First Division. His youth development was spent at Ajax Cape Town, Old Mutual Football Academy and Bidvest Wits.
“Known for his ability to beat defenders and put quality balls into the box, Maritzburg believe they can provide the perfect platform for a player looking to move into the prime of his career in the next couple of years.”
