Gunning For Chiefs: Our Fans Are The Most Educated Fans In The League
Maritzburg United Fans Are The Most Educated According To Fadlu Davids
Fadlu Davids says that Maritzburg United’s fans are ‘definitely the most educated fans in the league’ as they go into the final game of what has been an impressive Absa Premiership season.
The Team of Choice are set to finish in the top four for the first time in their history, and if results go their way could pip Kaizer Chiefs to a spot in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Davids, who has been touted as a nominee for PSL Coach of the Season, believes that their supporters have been key to their success, and hopes they will help spur them on against Golden Arrows and help them leapfrog the Amakhosi.
He told the club’s official website, "This is our final game at the Harry Gwala Stadium and we are hoping our supporters will again come out in their numbers – they are the reason for our success this season, thanks to the wonderful atmosphere they create at the stadium.
“They understand the football we play. The intricate system, the intricate style we play, our fans are definitely the most educated fans in the league and we are proud of the Maritzburg United supporters. They’ve supported us throughout all the games and that is why we have the best-ever record at Harry Gwala in the club’s history, because of them.
“They showed it against Sundowns, when we had 70 percent of the stands filled with Maritzburg supporters, they have really shown the level of support we have here, and we hope to reward them with a win on Saturday.”
Maritzburg know that a win will be enough to secure third place should Chiefs draw or lose to Ajax Cape Town on Saturday, and Davids will be eager for their ‘educated’ fans to be the 12th man once again.
