Maritzburg United take on Kaizer Chiefs tomorrow night as they go in search of only their second home win over the Amakhosi.
The Team of Choice have only beaten Chiefs at home once in seven attempts, with that win coming back in 2008 when they managed a 3-2 win during their league campaign.
Steve Komphela’s side find themselves on a torrid run at present having lost five of their last nine games, and are without a win since early December, however will be eager to end that run against the league leaders on Wednesday night.
Maritzburg have beaten Chiefs three times in 16 attempts to date, and have not done so in their last six clashes, with their most recent victory coming in April 2012 when they won 1-0.
Komphela’s team started the season well, however their recent run of forms sees them just five points clear of the relegation playoff spot at the foot of the table, meaning that they need to start picking up points quickly so that they don’t get drawn into the relegation dogfight at the end of the season.
Chiefs have already beaten Maritzburg 1-0 twice this season, in the PSL and Telkom Knockout, and will be gunning for a hattrick on Wednesday evening.
