Despite it already being confirmed by Chippa United that Steve Komphela has agreed a deal to join the club, Maritzburg United are insistent that their coach is going nowhere.
The Siya crew broke the news earlier this week that Komphela had agreed terms with Chippa, and that further details of the move would be made available as time progressed.
Nonetheless, since news broke of the 46-year-old's supposed impending move to the Chilli Boys, Maritzburg have continued to flatly deny that Komphela will be leaving. The Team of Choice have maintained that he still has a two-year deal, and will remain in charge in 2014/15.
The club's blanket response in denying Komphela is set for an exit appears to be continuing. The club's official website today strongly re-affirmed the club's position on this matter, saying, "The coach has not approached the club to say that he is leaving, and in fact he has denied that he is leaving after he was approached by the chairman (Farouk Kadodia) on the basis of the media reports. So, the reality is that the status quo remains until the chairman is advised otherwise by the coach or his manager. It is the intention of the club to keep the coach and that has been made very clear by the chairman."
The crew will monitor proceedings.
