Maritzburg United captain, Ashley Hartog, faces around six more weeks on the sidelines as he recovers from the knee operation he recently underwent.
The 32-year-old, who was given the captain’s armband by Steve Komphela earlier this season, hasn’t featured for the Team of Choice since the draw with Chippa United back in February, and looks set to miss even more games.
It was confirmed to the Siya crew that the former SuperSport United man underwent a successful operation on his knee, but that he’s still some time away from making his return to first team action.
According to the source, Hartog faces around six more weeks on the sidelines, meaning that he could only return for Maritzburg’s last four games of the 2014/15 season.
Hartog had played a vital role for Komphela’s side during their early season form, and his absence will no doubt continue to be a blow for the team as they seek to end their torrid run in 2015.
