Maritzburg United's defence has come in for some praise after managing to keep five clean sheets in 10 league and cup matches so far this season. The Team of Choice have had a bumpy start to the new campaign and a raft of injuries at one point saw close to 10 players ruled out of action.

The departure of Ernst Middendorp also must have come as a disruption, although his replacement, Clinton Larsen, appears to be settling in well. Nonetheless, it seems United's rearguard are playing a big role in helping the club stay stable during some challenging times. The back four have conceded just eight goals and this must breed confidence in the players further forward.
United's Team Manager, Quintin Jettoo, reserved praise for the defence and highlighted the major role goalkeeper Shu-Aib Walters, is playing.
He said, "The basis of our solid start has been because of our defence. They’ve all been good in general but Shu-Aib has been really special. The whole defensive unit deserves some credit for keeping things tight."
United will no doubt look to continue their solid form when they take on Golden Arrows in an Absa Premiership clash on Sunday.
The action gets underway from 15h30 at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Durban.
