Maritzburg United’s interest in Nkosinathi Mthiyane has diminished according to latest information received by the Siya crew. Mthiyane played for Thanda Royal Zulu in the 2012/13 season.
The 24-year-old almost helped Amabhubesi win automatic promotion to the PSL at the end of the season. Mthiyane finished the season as the joint top goal scorer in the NFD, alongside with Lesvin Stoffels of Milano United on 14 goals each.
Maritzburg and AmaZulu showed interest in the player after seeing some of his performances. But it is believed that Maritzburg’s interest has diminished due to the player’s financial demands.
AmaZulu are still expected to conclude a deal with the player after signing some of his teammates recently. Lunga Zondi, Sifso Hlanti and Chris Manoka have all signed for Usuthu.
But the difference with Mthiyane is that he is still contracted to Thanda. Any potential deal has to be made through the Richards Bay outfit. Maritzburg need a reliable goal scorer to take over from Cuthbert Malajila when the Zimbabwean striker leaves for Mamelodi Sundowns.
