SuperSport United’s CEO, Stan Matthews, has confirmed that they are close to signing Mario Booysen on loan, while two clubs have bid for Bradley Grobler.
The Siya crew has previously reported that Booysen’s move to Matsatsantsa was imminent as they look for a replacement for Bongani Khumalo, and it appears that they have found that in a former player.
Booysen, 27, has struggled for game time at Sundowns so far this year, and Matthews has explained that they are expecting to welcome him to the club shortly.
He said, “We have pretty much finalised with Sundowns the loan of Mario Booysen until the end of the season. He’s a known commodity to us who served us well during his time here previously. He wants to stay in Pretoria, and he will add some depth to our backline.”
Meanwhile, Phumelele Bhengu is expected to go out on loan before the January window closes on Friday, while Grobler is expected to stay despite two formal bids from Mpumalanga Black Aces and Bloemfontein Celtic.
Matthews went on to say, “We would like to loan Bhengu out. His game time will be limited even under Baxter, I don’t think it’s any secret that Stuart loves Kingston (Nkhatha) and Brockie is there as well.
“Bradley is on the fence, it’s in his court as to whether he wants to go now or at the end of the season. Aces and Celtic have both made formal offers for him and we’ve given that to Bradley and his agent to take forward. I think he’ll be with us until the end of the season.”
