Bulgarian coach Mario Anton Marinica has been added to the list of candidates looking to take over the coaching reins at Polokwane City.
Following Duncan Lechesa’s departure from the PSL new-boys, physical trainer Eduardo Schoeler has been appointed as the caretaker coach, however the club is looking for a permanent replacement to take charge of the bench.
Ian Palmer, Owen da Gama, Mark Harrison, Sunday Chidzambwa and Kostadin Papic have all been linked with the job, with Marinica being the latest name added to the list of potential candidates.
Pat Baloyi, City’s Media Liaison Officer, revealed to the Siya Crew that they are looking for a coach who will bring the best out of City’s players, while ensuring balance and confidence in the team.
“We have a long list of candidates who have applied for the job but we know who we want. We have recently added Bulgarian coach Mario Anton Marinica, a former Black Leopards coach, Arsenal U15 coach, ex-Tottenham Hotspurs coaching educator, and is currently the Bulgarian Football Association’s Technical Assistant,” said Baloyi.
After six rounds of action, City are sat in 15th place on the PSL log with three points, having recently defeated Ajax Cape Town 2-0.
With Schoeler pulling the strings at present, Baloyi says that the appointment of Lechesa’s successor is imminent.
“The management will definitely make a decision by Friday, but the new coach will be on the bench against Wits on Wednesday, October 23,” added Baloyi.
City’s next league outing is against Wits, however they face Kaizer Chiefs in the Telkom Knock out this weekend.
