Since the launch of the adidas nitrocharge, players currently kitted in the brand new boots have been raving about the latest edition to the adidas range, including Orlando Pirates midfielder Oupa Manyisa. In this feature, Manyisa shares about the adjustment from his previous boots, the f50, to the new nitrocharge.
"I grew up admiring adidas from a young age, so it was natural that I would play in adidas. It’s very important to find the right type of boot. Many players will take a boot for its looks or simply because it’s the latest boot on the market. I always look at the type of boot that will suit me best for the role I play in the team. I used to play in the f50, which worked for me. I had all the different types and colours. All that mattered though was that it was working for me, but the nitrocharge chose me. Changing boots usually takes some time to get used to, but this change didn’t need any time, it was a natural fit.
"Just like the nitrocharge, you have to be a very balanced figure in the middle of the park. I have the freedom to venture forward and help the team to attack, but when things break down, I work my way back with urgency to help the team defend. Very often I spend long periods of time in the opposition half when we are attacking. In the middle of the park it’s all about changing direction and controlling the game," concluded Manyisa.
