According to a Siya crew source, Lebogang Manyama’s potential move to Kaizer Chiefs could be back on, with Ajax Cape Town waiting on Mabhudi Khenyeza’s appeal.
There were rumours circulating in recent months that the Amakhosi were keen to land the 22-year-old from Ajax, although his agent, Alfred Phiri, moved to quell the rumours, insisting that he was going nowhere.
However, now the crew have been informed that the Urban Warriors could be willing to let go of their forward, but only if Khenyeza wins his appeal against his 12-month ban for spitting at a match official.
Manyama, who was recently handed a call-up to Gordon Igesund’s Bafana Bafana squad for the 2013 Cosafa Cup, scored twice against Chiefs as Ajax beat them 3-1 in May, and it is thought that Bobby Motaung is an admirer of his.
With the forward having a year still left to run on his contract at Ikamva it remains to be seen whether the speculated move will go through, although it seems that Ajax are waiting to hear about Khenyeza’s future before making any decisions.
Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates will clash on July 27, with the title of 2013 Carling Black Label Cup champions up for grabs.
