Mamelodi Sundowns Utility Player Left Out In The Cold
One of Mamelodi Sundowns’ utility players has not been registered for the 2017/18 campaign, indicating that his time with the Brazilians could be coming to an end.
It was reported by the Siya crew on September 19 that Mzikayise Mashaba and Mamelodi Sundowns were in discussions about the player’s immediate future at the club after it was established that the two parties were looking to solve a dispute at the time.
The Premier Soccer League has since released the official 2017/18 squad lists of registered players for the season with Mashaba’s name nowhere to be found on the list.
The 28-year-old has been ruled out of action for six months, following an injury to his foot, however, indications are that the player might not see a return to the Sundowns first team.
Mashaba is in the final year of his contract, which means that if the club has not decided to release the player come January next year, the 28-year-old will be free to pen a pre-contract with any interested suitor during the final six months of his deal with Masandawana.
The midfielder has been linked with the likes of Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates in the past and it remains to be seen which club will pounce on the player’s services in the upcoming January transfer window period.
