Downs Striker Back In SA, Update On Swedish Trial

A Mamelodi Sundowns striker is back in South Africa, following his trial in Sweden with Djurgårdens.

During his trial with the Swedish outfit, Bongi Ntuli told Swedish publication, of how pleased he was to be at the club and how competitive it was in a team in another league compared to the PSL.

Speaking to the Siya crew on the player’s return to Mzansi, Ntuli’s agent Mandla Mthembu confirmed that the 27-year-old did not join the Swedish club due to the parties not agreeing on financial terms.

“Bongi did well and they were impressed with him. He liked the setup and everything about the club, and he enjoyed himself over there,” confirmed Mthembu.

“There was an offer on the table but it didn’t make financial sense for all the parties concerned. The player is back in the country,” added Mthembu.

As confirmed by the player’s representative, the Pietermaritzburg-born forward is returning to the Brazilians to fight for a place in coach Pitso Mosimane's team.

“You must understand that he is still contracted to Sundowns. If you check, it’s not like the strikers at Sundowns are scoring goals at the moment. That says to me if given a chance he might do well for them. If the right offer comes along we will consider it, but if not he will fight for his place like all the other strikers at the club (Sundowns),” concluded Mthembu.
