Having made just two appearances for Mamelodi Sundowns this season, the DStv Compact Cup this weekend has provided Ricardo Goss with an opportunity for much-needed game time.
Goss has been selected in the starting XI for Dinaledi FC, something that hasn’t happened all too often at Sundowns this season, with Denis Onyango continuing his stronghold on the Brazilians’ number one jersey.
However, with an opportunity to get a 90-minute role and possibly advance to the final, Goss is looking forward to getting onto the pitch amongst some familiar faces this weekend.
“I’ve played with everybody in this team except Phillip Ndlondlo, I know most of the guys in the team which is gonna be good for us. I think most of us have actually played together when you look at it, especially at National teams and that will help in going a long way. I think we just need to whenever we get the chance to just finish it off,” Goss told Sundowns’ official website.
In the Coastal United starting XI, a number of players are all familiar faces for Goss who has highlighted six potential threats which includes former Sundowns attacker Mogakolodi Ngele.
“Obviously they’ve got speed upfront, they’ve got height too, so we will need to deal with that. In the middle they have a lot of experience in [Mogakolodi] Ngele, [Mpho] Makola, [Thabo] Nodada and [Nathan] Sinkala, we will need to be prepared to deal with those players. We have to deal with the freekicks from Ngele, deal with the place of [Ashley] Du Preez and [Evidence] Makgopa holding up the ball for them.” Goss added.
Goss and his Dinaledi side will kick off proceedings at 3pm, while Warriors FC and Amabutho will follow shortly after at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.
