Pitso Confirms EPL Interest In Tau: I Want Him to Go

Pitso Mosimane has confirmed that there has been interest in PSL Footballer of the Season, Percy Tau, from leagues all over Europe, including the English Premier League.
Tau has been a revelation in the Absa Premiership this season as he played a vital role in helping Mamelodi Sundowns reclaim the league title, scoring 11 goals along the way as he led them to victory.
Now, with Khama Billiat’s contract set to expire in a months’ time, Mosimane has also explained that he’s preparing for the fact that Tau may also be on his way out of Masandawana before the 2018/19 campaign gets underway.
Speaking to the media last night, the PSL Coach of the Season said, “It is going to be very difficult for us to keep Percy. There is a big interest in him, even from English Premier League clubs. We have been talking about a top-five league for him and we don’t want him to go to Denmark or Sweden. What is he going to do there?
“There’s also interest in Percy from League 1 in France, Serie A in Italy, the Bundesliga in Germany, but now the EPL has knocked on the door.”
Mosimane also added that he is hoping to see Tau go on and make it in the big leagues, saying, “What Percy has done for the year and that match against Barcelona has helped him gain interest from these big leagues. In my opinion. I want him to go and play in the EPL. We don’t have a South African playing there anymore, so it would be nice for him to go and play week, in week out and see if he is the real deal or not.”
One complication, however, with regards to the Premier League is that Tau is unlikely to qualify for a work permit in the UK, therefore – if a move does come about – he would have to be loaned out until he becomes eligible.
