Pitso Confirms EPL Interest In Tau: I Want Him to Go

Mamelodi Sundowns' Percy Tau Could Be On His Way Out

By Soccer Laduma - May 30, 2018 11:42 AM
Pitso Mosimane has confirmed that there has been interest in PSL Footballer of the Season, Percy Tau, from leagues all over Europe, including the English Premier League.

Tau has been a revelation in the Absa Premiership this season as he played a vital role in helping Mamelodi Sundowns reclaim the league title, scoring 11 goals along the way as he led them to victory.

Now, with Khama Billiat’s contract set to expire in a months’ time, Mosimane has also explained that he’s preparing for the fact that Tau may also be on his way out of Masandawana before the 2018/19 campaign gets underway.

Speaking to the media last night, the PSL Coach of the Season said, “It is going to be very difficult for us to keep Percy. There is a big interest in him, even from English Premier League clubs. We have been talking about a top-five league for him and we don’t want him to go to Denmark or Sweden. What is he going to do there?

“There’s also interest in Percy from League 1 in France, Serie A in Italy, the Bundesliga in Germany, but now the EPL has knocked on the door.”

Mosimane also added that he is hoping to see Tau go on and make it in the big leagues, saying, “What Percy has done for the year and that match against Barcelona has helped him gain interest from these big leagues. In my opinion. I want him to go and play in the EPL. We don’t have a South African playing there anymore, so it would be nice for him to go and play week, in week out and see if he is the real deal or not.”

One complication, however, with regards to the Premier League is that Tau is unlikely to qualify for a work permit in the UK, therefore – if a move does come about – he would have to be loaned out until he becomes eligible.

I am a doubting Thomas on Tau. Not convinced he is the real deal like Dolly. But he must go and prove himself. Not EPL but France or Spain is good for him.

Wish this deal can materialize because he's not that young anymore & hope Sundowns will let him go peacefully & won't be like the Xulu, Gaxa, Dolly, Billiat etc saga.

SAYS THE MAN WHO AT SOME POINT MISLED THE NATION AND HIS PLAYERS BY NOT READING THE FIFA RULES AND ALLOWED HIS PLAYERS TO CELEBRATE THINKING THEY QUALIFIED FOR A MAJOR TOURNAMENT. HOW WOULD TAU QUALIFY TO GET THE WORK PERMIT IN ENGLAND AT THE AGE OF 24 NO LONGER A DEVELOPMENT PLAYER. MMMM PIZZA, I CAN UNDERSTAND GOING TO League 1 in France, Serie A in Italy, the Bundesliga in Germany, AND I KNOW THE BOY WILL FIGHT HARD AS HE IS CAPABLE BUT EPL,MMM PIZZA HAYIKHONA.
