Sundowns’ Key Men Vs Wits

Mamelodi Sundowns will travel away to face Bidvest Wits in an Absa Premiership clash and Soccer Laduma takes a look at some of Masandawana’s in-form players who could cause a threat to the motivated Wits’ side.

Wits claimed a 1-0 win over Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday, November 18, subsequently booking their spot in the final of the Telkom Knockout competition.

Going on step closer to lifting their first piece of silverware in the 2017/18 campaign, will be a huge boost for Head Coach Gavin Hunt’s side who has experienced a disappointing run of form in the Absa Premiership.

However, the Students will be dealt a tough task tomorrow, November 21, when they host Sundowns at the Bidvest Stadium.

Soccer Laduma takes a look at three key Sundowns players whom Head Coach Hunt’s side will be wary of due to their current form.

Hlompho Kekana:

The Sundowns’ team captain has scored three goals in all competitions for the Brazilians so far this season and has also taken the most shots out of all the player’s in the Masandawana side, with four of them being on target, this according to the latest statistics.

The 32-year-old will look to build on his goalscoring momentum from the team’s recent Absa Premiership clash against Orlando Pirates, where Kekana scored two impressive goals to help the Brazilians to a 3-1 win.

Percy Tau:

Tau has been one of Sundowns’ consistent performers this season, scoring two and assisting three goals in all competitions for Masandawana so far.

The 23-year-old makes at least three touches in the penalty area per 90 minutes played and makes at least 15 passes in the final third of every match he’s played in.

Themba Zwane:

Despite coming on as a substitute in the Brazilians' previous Absa Premiership encounter against Orlando Pirates, Zwane has been influential in the Sundowns attack alongside the likes of Percy Tau and Khama Billiat. Wits will be on alert for the 28-year-old's link-up play with the Masandawana front line.
