Mamelodi Sundowns have revealed that their players and officials are currently victims of a scam being conducted online.
It has been an ongoing issue in South Africa, where the likes of Premier Soccer League players are targeted by way of a mobile phone scam.
Generally, most of the players would have their mobile numbers and social media accounts hacked by unknown scammers, who would often seek out sums of money from people on their contact list.
The likes of Aubrey Modiba, Thabo Mnyamane and Keagan Dolly have all been victims of scams lately, with Sundowns now revealing that some of their players and officials have also been targeted.
The club has since issued a warning to the public to be vigilant and aware of fraudulent online behaviour.
“Mamelodi Sundowns players and officials are victims of phone scams. Don’t fall victim to the scam. When you receive a suspicious message, alert the police and Mamelodi Sundowns 011 393 5007,” the Brazilians said on their official Twitter account.
