Mamelodi Sundowns have convinced inspirational midfielder, Teko Modise, to agree on a new deal to extend his stay at Chloorkop.

The Brazilians decided to exercise their first option to extend the veteran midfielder’s contract ahead of the current campaign.

In December last year, the Siya crew reported that Downs had every intention of exercising their second option on Modise’s contract and further his stay at the club.

Siya sources have now confirmed that the PSL log leaders have indeed exercised their second option to extend the player's contract.

“He may not be playing as (the) first-choice (starter) at this time, but his experience and contribution at the team is valuable and that's why the technical team has recommended the extension,” a source indicated.

The Siya crew called Modise’s representative, Jazzman Mahlakgane, to confirm the news.

“Yes, it is true (the option) has been exercised but you should know that apart from exercising the option, the team has also given Teko two more years,” Mahlakgane said.

“This means it's two years and an extension and that will see him at the team until 2019.”
