An experienced defender in the Premier Soccer League has completed a switch from Mamelodi Sundowns to Chippa United.
As previously reported by the Siya crew, Thabo Nthethe has been expected to complete a move from Sundowns to Chippa in preparation of the new season.
Chippa have confirmed that the player's deal has been concluded and that the 33-year-old centre-back will don the club's colours in the new season.
“Chippa United has bolstered the defence ahead of the 2018/2019 season with the signing of accomplished defender, Thabo Nthethe,” confirmed Chippa on the club’s official website.
“Executive Chairman, Siviwe Mpengesi confirmed the player has signed a one year contract with the Port Elizabeth- based side.
“A CAF Champions League winner with Mamelodi Sundowns, Ntethe is one of the most highly respected players in the Absa Premiership owing to his cool demeanour on and off the field,” the club further stated.
Mpengesi believes that Nthethe will be a perfect fit for the Eastern Cape club.
“Thabo (Nthethe) is a player with the right characteristics and a perfect fit for the Club. He is a defender that is comfortable with the ball. He is a leader on and off the pitch. We are delighted to have him on board,” the chairman confirmed on the club’s website.
“We have a relatively young team and we have no doubt that Thabo will share his experience positively with the rest of the squad. We welcome him to the East Cape and wish him all the best,” concluded Mpengesi.
