Mnguni’s Bold Prediction, How Downs Should Overpower Benni’s City

A former Mamelodi Sundowns defender is backing coach Pitso Mosimane’s side to beat Cape Town City in their match tonight.

The Brazilians, who are one of the favourites to win the Absa Premiership title, will host City in an eagerly-awaited match at Loftus Versfeld Stadium tonight.

Although Benni McCarthy’s side is oozing with confidence after their 3-2 win over Maritzburg United at the weekend, former Sundowns defender Thokozani Mnguni believes that the Mother City outfit will be no match for Mosimane’s side.

“Sundowns will win tonight. I agree that Cape Town City are on form, but Sundowns have the personnel to overpower them. They (City) may be doing well, but Sundowns will be too strong for them. The thing with Sundowns is that they don’t play with the same team. They change the team all the time. They have quality in the team. It must have been difficult for Benni this week to plan for Sundowns because he wouldn’t know who is going to play,” said Mnguni.

Downs drew 1-1 with Bidvest Wits in their most recent match played on the weekend, although Mosimane and the team are still in pole position to retain their title.

Downs, who have played two fewer matches than Wits and Orlando Pirates respectively, are third on the PSL log behind the Students and Bucs.
