SuperSport United have been dealt a heavy blow with news that striker, Mame Niang, has been ruled out for the season after an elbow operation.
The 30-year-old picked up the injury in the 3-1 defeat to Maritzburg United, and it was originally thought that he may have broken his arm.
However, the club then explained that Niang’s arm wasn’t broken, but that he would face a bit of time on the sidelines as he looked to fully recover.
Now, as the situation goes full circle, the player has confirmed that he underwent a successful operation today after it was discovered that it was elbow that was broken, not his arm.
While the operation was a success, the Senegalese forward has been ruled out for the rest of the season, something that will not go down well with Johnson, who is losing his top scorer.
The only plus for Johnson is recent return of Bradley Grobler, however he will be unhappy that he won’t have the opportunity to play them both in the same team.
