Date: 19 January 2014

Venue: Athlone Stadium

Idrissa Traore's penalty secured a 2-1 win for Mali over Mozambique, which sees them qualify for the CHAN knockout stages as winners of Group A.

Mali created the first chance of the game in the eighth minute as Issaka Samake's shot was palmed away by Victor Soares.

Hamidou Sinayoko tried his luck from range with just a minute gone but the midfielder's effort went high and wide.

Dario Khan came close for Mozambique in the 14th minute but his effort went just wide of the post.

A minute later Ibrourahima Sidibe squandered a great chance in the six yard area, the striker miscued his effort wide of the target.

Mozambique took the lead in the 39th minute through Tiago Josemar's well taken volley from the edge of the area.

Mali almost immediately replied through substitute Idrissa Traore's free kick,  but his effort went just wide.

Mali got their equaliser in the 48th minute as Sidibe managed to take advantage of some poor defending before comfortably slotting home.

Ousmane Keita missed a glorious opportunity to put Mali ahead in the 61st minute, as the defender was left unmarked in the six yard area but failed to direct his header on target.

Traore got the winner from the penalty spot in the 93rd minute after Idrissa Sangare was brought down in the box.
