Former Orlando Pirates midfielder David Makgale says he always knew that Lehlogonolo Masalesa would make it big in the game one day.
The young Masalesa signed for Bucs from Wits last season and has hardly put a foot wrong when given the opportunity. His most memorable displays were against Zamalek in the Soweto giants' 4-1 win over the Egyptians and in their 1-1 MTN8 semifinal first-leg draw against Kaizer Chiefs. Makgale believes ‘Vieira’ will go from strength to strength in his career.

The two played together at Platinum Stars, where Masalesa struggled for game time.
“I remember that he used to cry, saying that football is unfair. But I would tell him that his time would come. He does not have skill but he can mark and play it simple. I told the guys who were watching the MTN8 final me with me that if Masalesa was not there, then Pirates would lose and that’s what happened," Makgale said.
He added, "I know Jali is the crowd’s favourite, but for me, Masalesa is one of the best players in the PSL. What I like about him is that he does not complicate things – he just passes to the one who’s wearing the same jersey as he is."
