Sweden-based Bafana Bafana midfielder May Mahlangu is currently nursing an injury after being ruled out for the rest of the year due to an Achilles tendon injury.
He's in the process of recovery and the player says he's doing well, " I underwent a successful operation and the recovery is going well so far. The injury came at a very crucial stage of my career, but we can’t question God’s decisions. He knows why this had to happen to me, but I’m grateful because other players have it worse. I missed out on the Nelson Mandela Challenge game but I can’t complain about that. I’m still fully behind the boys and it is a pity that beating Botswana 4-1 wasn’t enough as the other result between Ethiopia and CAR didn’t favour us."
With his contract at Helsingborg IF expiring soon, Mahlangu's future has been under speculation for some time, but the player says, "That’s the last thing on my mind at the moment, as I have to focus on my recovery before I can even think of my next move. No one is going to sign an injured player, but we will see what happens in December when my contract expires. I’m not even worried about the situation."
Mahlangu recently tested the new PUMA evoSPEED boot, saying, "I think this is the most comfortable boot I have ever worn and it is also light, which makes my life easy on the field. I’m a speedy and creative player, so I need to feel comfortable in my boots. They mustn’t be too heavy or too light, otherwise it will affect my game negatively.
"With evoSPEED, I can do anything I want to on the field and it gives me that added advantage because I can run, take on players, shoot or even pass the ball with ease because the boot allows me to do that. Wearing a comfortable boot goes a long way in enhancing your game. It’s very important to be comfortable in your boots, otherwise you won’t be able to be at your best in the game. You find that some boots are either too heavy or too light but this boot is well balanced."
So would he recommend the boot to fellow teammates? "Definitely! In fact, there are more people wearing the boot now, which means they also fell in love with it!"
