South African International May Mahlangu will not be returning to Helsingborgs in Sweden next year, with his contract up at the end of 2013.
Mahlangu who won Sweden’s Player of the Year in 2012, had been expected to make a move to a bigger league after his stand-out season, but the club never received the offers they expected, and then injury brought his season to a premature end.
Helsingborgs sports director Jesper Jansson confirmed this to fotbolldirekt.se, saying, “He wants out in a bigger league in Europe, and he has been clear.
“We can only wish him well and thank him for his efforts here, he has done a good job and been one of our top players for years.”
With Mahlangu set to be a free agent, there have been a number of clubs across the world rumoured to be interested in signing him..
Soccer-Laduma reported earlier this month that Kaizer Chiefs may be interested in signing Mahlangu, though there has also been interest from Tokelo Rantie's former club, Malmo and French outfit Valenciennes.
