Moroka Swallows have welcomed Mzwanele Mahashe to the club’s training grounds, as the former Wits defender gets assessed by coach Zeca Marques and his technical team.
The 26-year-old is the third centre-back to join the Birds on trial this week, with a clear indication coming out of Dobsonville that the team is eager to bolster their back-line.
The Dube Birds already have Siphiwe Mkhonza and Mokete Tsotetsi on trial, with Mahashe now adding to the list.
After a brief stint at Mpumalanga Black Aces, following a loan agreement between Wits and the NFD outfit, the defender parted ways with The Students. He was expected to rejoin the Braamfontein-based side, however a change of personnel at the club affected his proposed come-back.
Coach Marques is expected to make a decision on the players training with the team before the league’s restart in February, as he prepares his squad for the rest of the 2012/13 campaign.
Swallows have conceded a whopping 27 goals so far this season and Marques is hoping to sign capable players that can help his defence.
