The latest news will come as a major blow to Pirates, who already have Siyabonga Sangweni on a long-term knee injury.
The good news for the Buccaneers is that left back, Patrick Phungwayo, is expected to return to full training soon after recovering from his injury.
“Orlandopiratesfc.com can reveal that fullback Patrick Phungwayo has started jogging and could soon return to full training sessions, while centre-backs Rooi Mahamutsa and Siyabonga Sangweni are expected to start light training in the next few weeks,” read a statement on the official Pirates website.
“The medical team confirmed that apart from the three players mentioned above, the club is enjoying a clean bill of health,” the statement continued.
Pirates next game is against Wits at Orlando Stadium on Tuesday, February 4.
