Bafana Bafana will face Mozambique in their opening game in the CHAN 2014 tournament at Cape Town Stadium tomorrow.
The Siya crew caught up with prominent Bafana Bafana supporter, Masilo Machaka who echoed a few sentiments regarding support behind Gordon Igesund's team who he believes will do well during the tournament.
“Without a doubt, I believe Bafana will make us proud against Mozambique tomorrow, I don’t underestimate them but they can’t beat us. This is more like saying Lesotho can beat Spain, that’s impossible. We just have to go all out there and enjoy ourselves, go all out with a mission to win. My eyes are on the game against Mali and Nigeria, these are the toughest games for us, we just have to win the first one against neighbours, Mozambique.
“I’d like to see us winning by 3-0, we must score two goals in the first half and then finish it off by one goal in the second stanza. I believe we have a strong squad and that gives us a chance to win the tournament. The coach knows that we must win this one, we haven’t won a cup for a while now. Chan is a must and there’s good news that FIFA has confirmed to rank the tournament so it will boost our international rankings. The players and the coach are aware how important the tournament is and as supporters, we’re fully behind them,” said Machaka.
However, Bafana’s next game after the opening game against Mozambque is against Mali on January 15 and four days later, they face African champions, Nigeria, at the same venue.
"The players’ job is to ensure they bring a smile to us as supporters, play well and take the tournament seriously. If they don’t lift this one, which one will they lift? Our mission is to go to the next Afcon edition and FIFA World Cup 2018. We believe in the squad and the first eleven must make us proud,” added Machaka.
