Memela: I Want To Play African Football
Luvuyo Memela targets continental football
Orlando Pirates winger Luvuyo Memela has told Soccer Laduma that the prospect of playing African continental football has been one of the driving forces in his performances for the club.
The 30-year-old has been one of the top performers for Milutin Sredojević, contributing five league goals. Speaking to the crew, Memela highlighted that he is eager to play in the CAF competitions as this is something he has never achieved in his three seasons at Pirates.
“I really want to be part of (a) team that is playing in a CAF competition as I’ve never had this opportunity since joining Pirates,” said the speedy player.
“Most players want to play and compete in CAF competitions and get exposed to playing against clubs from other countries. This was one of my goals when I joined Pirates and now I’m close to achieving that.
“I’m also happy that I’ve contributed to where we are, but it’s not over, there are still three games to go so we have to maintain the course. There is plenty of excitement among the players, but we know that we still need to get the job done,” he concluded.
Memela, along with players such as Musa Nyatama, will all be relishing at the prospect of facing sides from other African countries.
