Memela: I’ve Played My Part
Luvuyo Memela remains upbeat despite injury scare
Orlando Pirates attacker Luvuyo Memela remains hopeful of finishing the league on a high despite the chance of missing out on the final league game of the season.
Memela suffered an injury in Bucs penultimate game of the season which saw the Soweto giants succumb to a 1-0 defeat to Cape Town City. However, despite the defeat and the injury setback, the 30-year-old speedster has told Soccer Laduma that he is looking forward to a great finish to the league.
“Whether I will be playing or not all I can tell you is that I will be looking for a positive finish to the season in front of our supporters,” said the Bucs winger.
“Each player in this team has pulled their weight when the coach has required it. I’ve played my part and so has each player and that’s why we qualified for the Champions League. In our final game, I really hope we give our supporters a special performance for the support they have given us,” concluded the Memela.
The Bucs attacker suffered a knee strain and that he would be sent to a specialist for a full assessment of the extent of the injury according to a statement released by the club on their official website.
In his 18 league starts and 22 league appearances, Memela has netted five times to help guide his side to a CAF Champions League qualification.
