Eymael: We Didn't Come To The Party In The First Half
Luc Eymael Laments Poor First Half
Free State Stars coach Luc Eymael was not impressed with his side's first-half display against Mamelodi Sundowns.
Stars managed to come away from the nation capital unscaved after holding Sundowns to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday.
It took former Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs striker Siphelele Mthembu to spare their blushes following Percy Tau’s fourth minute opener.
“We didn’t come to the party in the first half. We were overplayed by Sundowns. We allowed them to control the ball and make runs in between our defensive lines,” Eymael told SuperSport after the game.
“We started to press them higher in the second half. The block was less long. There were less spaces in between the lines.
“That’s usually our game-plan and we were able to create a number of chances and eventually went on to score.
“We fought very well in the second half. Ali, my goalkeeper had a very good game. Made some outstanding saves,” he added.
