Former Free State Stars coach, Luc Eymael, is earmarked for a coaching role at Zamalek in Egypt, according to sources in the know.
Following their victory in the CAF Confederation Cup on the weekend, Zamalek confirmed that the club would be going separate ways with Swiss coach Christian Gross.
The Swiss coach led the Egyptian giants to a penalty shootout win over Morocco’s RS Berkane in the Confederation Cup final at the Borg El-Arab Stadium on Sunday.
Despite the important win, it has been confirmed from Zamalek’s top brass that Gross’s contract will not be renewed.
News reaching the Siya crew is that Eymael, who is coaching Tala’ea El Gaish in Egypt, has been earmarked for the Zamalek role.
“Luc Eymael is in touch with Zamalek following the departure of Christian Gross from the club. Eymael’s CV is with the club and he is one of the three candidates considered for the position,” a source told the Siya crew.
Meanwhile, Eymael is on his way to Belgium after helping Tala’ea El Gaish to a top eight finish in the Egyptian Premier League.
“Thanks to my players, my technical team, the fans and the management of Tala El Geish for these 7 months spent together. We achieved a top 8 on 18 teams and won 4 points more than last season. Well done, despite we could have got 8 points more. Choukran (thank you) everybody (Edited and translated),” wrote Eymael on his official Twitter account.
