Local - Monday Morning Wrap

While there were no PSL games this weekend, there were two matches played last Thursday, and the quarter-finals of the CHAN Tournament meant there was still football action in South Africa on the weekend.

Last Thursday Kaizer Chiefs travelled to Pretoria and beat Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0 to move 8 points clear at the top of the table, while Orlando Pirates had to make do with a 1-1 draw when they visited Amazulu.

The big news of the weekend was Andile Jali's transfer from Orlando Pirates to Belgian Pro League club KV Oostende.

A Jali-less Pirates will be in action again on Monday night when they host Ajax Cape Town, with caretaker coach Ian Taylor in charge after Muhsin Ertugral's resignation last week.

Nigeria staged one of the greatest fightbacks in International football history as they came from 3-0 down at half-time to beat Morocco 4-3 after extra-time to qualify for the CHAN semi-finals.

Zimbabwe continued to shine under Ian Gorowa as they overcame Mali 2-1 to qualify for the semi-finals. Gorowa remains undefeated after eight games since taking charge of the Zimbabwean national team.

Libya joined them in the semi-finals when they beat Gabon 4-2 on penalties, after the game ended 1-1 on Sunday.

Ghana beat the DRC 1-0 on Sunday night to complete the semi-final line-up, with the games set to be played mid-week - Nigieria will meet Ghana, while Zimbabwe will meet Libya.
