The PSL title race heated up in a weekend that saw all sixteen teams in action, including a top-of-the-table clash.
On Friday, Lance Davids scored from a set piece seconds before the final whistle to give Ajax Cape Town a 1-0 away win against Moroka Swallows.
On Saturday afternoon, Bradley Grobler’s solitary goal consigned Orlando Pirates to a 1-0 defeat to SuperSport United in Pretoria, while a first half brace from Sthembiso Ngcobo handed Wits a 2-1 away win at Mpumalanga Black Aces.
Later in the day, AmaZulu beat relegation-threatened Free State Stars 2-1 in Durban, but the other team battling at the bottom, Polokwane City, got a 2-1 away win at AmaTuks
In the late game on Saturday, Mamelodi Sundowns grabbed all three points with a 1-0 win against leaders Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium thanks to a bizarre goal from Teko Modisie from the halfway line. Sundowns are now equal with Chiefs on points, but behind on goal difference, and the Pretoria side have played a game more.
On Sunday, bottom-placed Golden Arrows’ woes continued as they lost 1-0 away to Maritzburg United, while Joel Mogorosi scored as Bloemfontein Celtic earned a hard-fought 1-0 win at home against Platinum Stars.
