Buthelezi: Komphela Can Win The League
Linda Buthelezi Looks Ahead To Chiefs v Wits Game
Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder, Linda Buthelezi, has discussed today’s game between his old club and Bidvest Wits, arguing that Steve Komphela can still win the league with a change in his mentality.
Chiefs square off against the reigning champions today, with Gavin Hunt’s men failing to win any of their three league games so far this season and Chiefs fresh off of a win over Cape Town City on Wednesday night. Buthelezi has looked ahead to the showdown, saying that both coaches have an unwavering winning mentality.
“It’s going to be a very good game and both coaches (Hunt and Komphela) have the spirit to say that they always have to win,” he told Soccer Laduma. “They are not going to relax.”
The 48-year-old added that he thinks Komphela’s mentality has a similar attitude to former Chiefs coach, Muhsin Ertugral, while the Wits mentor is out to win everything. However, he says that a change in mentality would allow Komphela to win this season’s league title, but that today’s result will ultimately come down to the players’ attitudes.
“You know how Gavin Hunt is, he just wants everything and I like that attitude,” he continued. “It’s the same for Steve as well; I still think he’s got that mentality of (Muhsin) Ertugral. As long as he can change that and be himself, I still believe that he can win the league, he can win cups and come back. In today’s game, I think it will be a draw, because both coaches are okay in the mentality that they have and I believe the players will make the difference in terms of the attitude that they play with.”
