Mokgothu’s Resurrection After Chiefs Disappointment, Next Destination Abroad?

Levy Mokgothu, who has struggled to get a club in the PSL to revive his career after leaving Kaizer Chiefs two years ago, could be set for an overseas move in the next step of his career.

News reaching the Siya crew is that the former Chiefs and Moroka Swallows defender has had arrangements made for him from his representatives at Galaxy Sports to leave for overseas in search of his next deal.

Since parting ways with Amakhosi in 2016, after failing to play a single match for the side during the two seasons he had been with them, Mokgothu has struggled in his search for a new club in Mzansi’s top-flight or NFD.

While taking care of his personal and business interests in the last two years, the left-back kept himself fit by playing in the ABC Motsepe League, where he had a stint with Swallows FC.

Mokgothu’s representative, Nimrod Matimu Mbhalati, has confirmed to the Siya crew that the Bloemfontein-born player could be set to get a chance to show the world what attracted Chiefs in him which led to his signing in 2014.

“It’s Levy Mokgothu and Mpho Mathekgane – the former Free State Stars winger and they are going to Dominican Republic in the CONCACAF League. They have been invited for trials,” said Mbhalati.

Mokgothu previously told the Siya crew that he had no regrets about joining Chiefs, though he felt that he should have got a chance to prove himself in the team. Mbhalati believes that the player could finally get a chance to revive his career overseas.

“This deal was made possible by our Colombian partner for Galaxy Sports Joao Betancourt Pinzon. We believe in second chances, as much as we focus on young stars. I mean, players like Levy need a second chance to revive their careers, so we thought this would be good for him, as well as Mpho,” added the representative.
