Bloemfontein Celtic’s key striker Lerato Lamola will be absent due to suspension when they take on Wits in the Cup quarterfinal on Sunday.
The hard-running marksman has received four yellow cards and will have the encounter from the sidelines. Lamola has been one of the instrumental players for Celtic since joining from National First Division side Roses United during preseason. However, he has gone off the boil in recent games and has lost his place in the starting line-up, with Ernst Middendorp preferring to use Frank ‘Gabadinho’ Mhango upfront.
Lamola has come off the bench in the last three matches and his suspension comes as a setback as he was looking to win his place back in the starting eleven. He has a decent record in the Nedbank Cup, having scored a brace when Celtic walloped University of Stellenbosch 8-0.
In Lamola’ bench, Middendorp could be tempted to use Lerato Manzini, who has been having a tough time this season and is the subject of rumours linking him with a move to SuperSport United.
