Orlando Pirates striker, Lennox Bacela, says winning the Nedbank Cup has presented them with an opportunity to go back to Africa and challenge to win the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Buccaneers beat Wits 3-1 in the final of the Nedbank Cup in Durban earlier this month to qualify for the Confed Cup.
“I know that the Confed Cup is different to the Champions league, but it is still a CAF competition. In my whole football career, there’s no time that I had enjoyed my football than playing in Africa,” Bacela told the crew.
“It’s not going to be easy to win the Confed Cup, but we have experienced playing in Africa before and we know what to do in order to try and win this competition."
“What is going to make it more difficult for us is the fact that clubs know Pirates now, unlike last season when we were a closed book to them. But we’re still looking forward to playing in Africa,” concluded Bacela.
Tunisia’s CS Sfaxien are the defending champions of this competition. This after they beat TP Mazembe 3-2 on aggregate in the final last year.
