Orlando Pirates forward, Lennox Bacela, has undertaken to invest back into his Western Cape-based community of George through an annual football tournament that seeks to unearth talent and help aspiring footballers reach their dream.
Speaking to his club’s official website, 'Jumbo' expressed his desire to help the community in which he hails from, and provide youngsters with a helping hand.
“As you know in life we all need an opportunity to show what we can do and be given that big break. With these games, I wish to give players in the Western Cape the chance they have been longing for. I myself was given a chance in such tournaments when I was just over 20 years old,” said Bacela.
“Today I’m a professional footballer because one day someone thought of organising a football tournament in which I was scouted."
“I will have big support from the Local Municipality as well as from my personal sponsors Puma so, everything is well planned for a big show. I am intending to invite football Managers and the community to come watch the games and see which players are ready and deserve the chance to shine in a bigger platform,” Bacela further said.
Lennox Bacela will host his inaugural tournament at the Lawaaikop FNB Stadium in George from 7-8 June.
