Orlando Pirates have been drawn against Mpumalanga Black Aces in the first round of this season’s Telkom Knockout, with the Soweto giants taking on the PSL newcomers away from home.
Pirates captain Lucky Lekgwathi told the Siya crew after Monday’s draw at SuperSport Studio 6 in Randburg, Johannesburg, that they will use their CAF Champions League experience in the domestic cup.
He said that he is happy with the draw and that they will have the advantage over Aces, despite playing away from home.
The Bucs captain is optimistic that they can go all the way. He said, “Wherever we play we are at home and this draw is very good for us. I know after this draw Aces are scared of us and that gives us an advantage.
“We’ll also use our African experience in all the games we will be playing and this will be the start of a great season ahead of us. We want to win another treble and we have to win the first game in this cup to progress.”
