Lebogang Manyama’s Absence From Cape Town City Explained
Premier Soccer League nominee, Lebogang Manyama, has not reported to pre-season training with Cape Town City this week.
The Mother City-based club reported to club duty on Saturday, July 01, where they were introduced to their new head coach, Benni McCarthy.
However, since the departure of Bhongolethu Jayiya and Thato Mokeke from the club, Manyama was the noticeable absentee from training this week and City has since confirmed the reason.
A representative at the Mother City-based club revealed that the player is on extended leave due to his off-season break being cut short due to Bafana Bafana duty.
The player was included in Head Coach Stuart Baxter’s Africa Cup Of Nation’s qualifying squad, where he reported to camp from June 04, until June 13.
Indications are that the 26-year-old will report to training next week, following the annual PSL awards ceremony that is set to take place on Monday, July 10.
The player has already been crowned the Absa Premiership’s top goalscorer, while also being nominated for the Footballer Of The Season, Player’s Player Of The Season and the Telkom Knockout Player Of The Tournament awards.
