Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Lebese admits Mamelodi Sundowns were tough to beat, but they came to Loftus stadium on Thursday night with a mission in mind and that was to pick up all three points no matter what.
An own goal from Wayne Arendse ten minutes in handed Chiefs a 1-0 win on the night in an extremely tight affair.
Speaking after the match, upon receiving his ‘Man of the Match’ award, Lebese said they were settling for nothing less than all three points.
“It was very difficult for us, we are playing away and Sundowns is a good team,” said Lebese.
“We came here with a mission, to get all three points and we weren’t settling for a draw.
“I am happy we got the three points.”
Lebese added that he was happy to be in the starting XI considering the amount of quality in the side.
“We have a good squad, we have good players, everyone is fighting for a position in the starting eleven and we show our thanks for the opportunity by working hard, and proving to the coach we are willing to work hard.”
Reflecting on his season thus far and his performance on the night Lebese concluded by thanking his teammates.
“So far it has been ok, but we need to take it from here, take it game by game. I would also like to give credit to my teammates, I didn’t do this alone. They worked hard and I was part of the team and I am grateful,” concluded the midfielder.
