Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Lebese says that he was happy to get his opportunity against Maritzburg United and praised the competitive spirit at the club.
Lebese came off the bench for the Glamour Boys in their win over Maritzburg this past weekend, with the talented winger scoring the second goal in the 2-0 victory.
However, chances have been few and far between for the 24-year-old so far this season, something that he will no doubt want to change in the coming weeks.
Speaking to Chiefs’ official website Lebese said, “Our objective was to win the game following the games against SuperSport United and Moroka Swallows. We are all delighted with the win against Maritzburg United, but we know we have a tough week ahead of us so no one is getting carried away. We have a competitive squad and we are all fighting for a place in the team.
“I was glad to be given an opportunity and that I was able to score my first goal this season. I am going to continue to work hard to improve my game. My objective is always to help the team and on a personal level, I want to continue to improve and give more to the team than I did last season.”
Stuart Baxter’s side will be eager to follow up their win over Maritzburg with another victory against Bloemfontein Celtic when they meet them at Free State Stadium tomorrow night.
