This is not football…

But given the uncertain times we are in because of the deadly Coronavirus pandemic, Soccer Laduma has a responsibility to keep the Soccer Laduma family updated on the latest news on the virus, and how it’s affecting Mzansi.

SA government planning for peak of virus in September

The extended five-week national lockdown has postponed South Africa's worst-case COVID-19 scenario to September, a government projection shows.

With no lockdown, South Africa was estimated to reach its peak coronavirus infections in July. A five-week lockdown, that has paralysed the economy, is buying the government two more months to prepare for a flooding of hospitals at the end of winter.

Unlikely government will lift ban on alcohol

Economists say the National Command Council is highly unlikely to lift the ban on alcohol sales during the lockdown, because the liquor industry is not affected any differently to other non-essential businesses that are not allowed to trade.

On Tuesday afternoon, the State Attorney responded to the Gauteng Liquor Forum's letter, saying that President Cyril Ramaphosa will take its concerns to the National Command Council for discussion this week

Cape Town church provides meals for homeless during lockdown

As the nationwide COVID-19 lockdown continues, homeless people struggle more and more to find a decent daily meal.

The Glory Restoration Assembly church took it upon themselves to provide homeless people in Cape Town with a warm meal.

Cops beef up presence on Cape Flats following looting, public violence

Western Cape police have reinforced deployments in several townships on the Cape Flats after several incidents of burglary, looting of grocery stores and public violence on Tuesday afternoon.

According to police spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa, a group of about 16 people stormed a supermarket in Gatesville at about 14:40 on Tuesday, threatened cashiers and took five cash registers with cash and groceries.
