The Natal Rich Boyz got the equaliser in the 34th minute through Simphiwe Mcineka, who bundled the ball home from close range.

Richards Bay did not have wait too long to find a second goal as Sakhile Hlongwa fired home from distance four minutes later.

Serame Moeketsi's charges were given a lifeline on 68 minutes after being awarded a penalty, which was converted by Tebogo Reed and ultimately sent the game to another penalty shoot-out.

Moeketsi's charges came out on top this time after winning the shoot-out 4-3 to advance to final on Sunday.

Maritzburg United 2-2 Uthongathi (Maritzburg won on penalties)

Maritzburg United advanced to the semi-finals of the KZN Premier's Cup after defeating Uthongathi on penalties at Chatsworth Stadium.

Ernst Middendorp handed starts to new signings Alfred Ndengane, Zukile Kewuti and Rowan Human, while Lifa Hlongwane and Brandon Theron were named on the bench.

The Team of Choice broke the deadlock on 17 minutes courtesy of a strike from Bongokuhle Hlongwane after Fares Hachi's inital shot was blocked on the edge of the box.

The lead did not last too long as the GladAfrica Championship outfit managed to pull themselves level from the penalty spot six minutes later, with Issa Sarr converting from 12 yards out.

Uthongathi then took the lead just before the hour mark through Thato Mohlamme, before Middendorp introduced Lefa Hlongwane, Ryan Rae and Riyaaz Ismail as a response.

Maritzburg had to wait until 72nd minute for an equaliser, with Hlongwane completing his brace after being set up by Daylon Claasen which ultimately sent the game to penalties, where they held on to triumph 4-2 in the shoot-out.
