Maritzburg United 5-1 Royal AM
Maritzburg United cruised to the KZN Premier's Cup final after thrashing Royal AM 5-1 on Sunday afternoon.
Judas Moseamedi was drafted into the Maritzburg starting line-up and he made his presence felt early on after opening the scoring in the 18th minute.
The lead was doubled seven minutes later as Lifa Hlongwane turned provider to pick out Ryan Rae, who headed home from close range before Razeen Bennett bagged the third moments later.
Bennett carried over the momentum in the second half when he completed his brace 10 minutes into the second half, while Asanda Buthelezi rounded off the scoring on 70 minutes with the fifth goal.
Royal AM did manage to bag a consolation from the penalty spot late on, as they bow out of the competition while Maritzburg will face AmaZulu in the final.
AmaZulu 3-2 Golden Arrows
AmaZulu advanced to the KZN Premier's Cup final with a 3-2 win over Golden Arrows on Sunday morning.
Abafana Besthende got off to the perfect start when they opened the scoring after just six minutes after Matome Mathiane turned home a free-kick from Knox Mutizwa.
Benni McCarthy's troops got back on level terms on 23 minutes after managing to win themselves a penalty, which captain Tapelo Xoki initially missed but he was quick to slot home the rebound.
Usuthu completed the turnaround 10 minutes later courtesy of new signing Tshepang Moremi, who was set up by Bonginkosi Ntuli.
Lehlohonolo Majoro extended Usuthu’s lead just before the hour mark with a neat finish in the box after getting on the end of Moremi’s cross.
Arrows did reduce the deficit with just over 20 minutes left on the clock, with Nduduzo Sibiya converting a penalty after Thembela Sikhakhane was deemed to have handled the ball in the box.
The game did end on a sour note when both teams were reduced to 10 men after Usuthu new signing Keagan Buchanan and Arrows' Pule Mmodi were sent off as tempers ran high in the latter stages.
